Love One Another

God’s Plan: Love Everybody

I was journaling this week and came across the following statement: “While you’re figuring out what God’s plan is for your life, just go love everybody. That’s the plan.” (Bob Goff)

That statement really struck me. Sometimes, I make things so complicated, when they really can be simple. The , suggestion to love everybody while navigating life’s uncertainties reflects the idea that love is not just a destination, but a path—one that aligns with God’s plan. It emphasizes the transformative power of love in our lives, reinforcing the notion that, regardless of our individual circumstances, embracing and spreading love is a fundamental aspect of our purpose on this journey.

Matthew 26:37-39

During His ministry, Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment is. Matthew 26:37-39 states “Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’.”

This verse commands us to love one another. It speaks directly to the heart, reminding us that our ability to love is a reflection of our connection with God. Embracing this commandment means not just acknowledging love as an abstract concept, but actively practicing it in our relationships and daily choices. Doing this can bring profound joy and meaning to our lives.

I John 4:7- 8

The verses quoted in the book by Bob Goff (mentioned above) are I John 4:7-8 – “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

I learned this verse as a song at church camp when I was young. Any time I hear the verse, I hum the song. There is a lot of research that shows learning something as a song helps you better remember it. (Because music activates both the left and right brain at the same time, we are more likely to remember the words and tune.) And, of course, I’ve been humming it all week! This verse inspired me to create a FREE Bible Journaling Printable.

Final Words

Both Matthew 26:37-39 and I John 4:7-8 clearly command us to love one another. The verses convey a simple, yet powerful message about the significance of love. As you journey through life, I pray you remember to actively live these verses each day.
