Finding Time with God: Tips for Busy Moms
In the whirlwind of motherhood, finding moments of peace and reflection can feel like a distant dream. The demands of parenting, coupled with the multitude of responsibilities of daily life, often leave little room for personal spiritual growth. Yet, as Christian women, we understand the vital importance of staying connected with our faith.
For busy moms, the journey towards a deeper spiritual connection with God can seem like an uphill battle. However, it’s crucial to remember that every small step counts. Nurturing faith amidst the chaos IS possible, it just looks different depending on your season of life.
One of the key principles to remember is that it’s not about finding large chunks of time, but rather, making the most of the smaller moments scattered throughout the day. These moments, though seemingly insignificant, hold immense potential for spiritual growth.

Look for Opportunities
Morning Moments:
I’m not a morning person, but for those of you who are: wake up just a few minutes earlier than usual for some quiet time with God. You can place your Bible and journal by your bedside for easy access. Some mornings, you might just read a few verses. Other days, you might have the opportunity to journal your thoughts as you ponder a particular verse.
Lunch Break:
If you work and have an assigned lunch time, you can set aside a portion of your lunch break, even if it’s just 5-10 minutes, to spend in prayer, reading your Bible, and/or journaling. Another way to spend time with the Lord is to keep a gratitude journal and pray as you write down your blessings. This can provide a midday spiritual boost.
Utilize Waiting Time:
How often do you spend time waiting? Keeping a small journal in your purse can help you capture those prayers you have. If you prefer digital notes, you can use an app on your phone. Another way to spend a few moments in the Word is to utilize a Bible app on your phone. Think of how many opportunities you have waiting in carpool or grocery store lines, at appointments, or during children’s activities!
Combine Tasks:
I know many moms like to combine Bible journaling with other tasks. For example, you can listen to an audio book, or even the Bible, while doing household chores. You could journal while waiting for dinner to cook.
Evening Reflections:
As a night owl, one of my favorite ways to journal is to dedicate time before bed. Sometimes, I reflect on a Scripture passage by creating art in my Bible. Other times, I write a “verse of the day” in my journal and write down ideas from my Study Bible’s footnotes or just ways this verse applies or speaks to me. Before bed is also a great time to write down thoughts and prayers from the day.

Conclusion
By using these smaller chunks of time, you can bring more spirituality into your everyday life. Whether it’s a stolen moment during lunch break or a quiet pause before the day begins, these snippets of time can become powerful opportunities to deepen your connection with God.
